simple thingsWhen it comes to  our health  and wellbeing there is so much information out there.

In fact there’s too much!

I feel we have been sent into a frenzy of information overload. There are so many diets, detoxes, eating plans, exercise regimes, master cleanses, “Coffee’s good, coffee’s bad” everything has become just so confusing.

Good health literally surrounds us, its there for the taking but we seem to have lost our way as humans and are completely out of alignment with our planet, the food we eat and what we really need to do to be healthy.

One of the biggest things I learnt on my healing journey is that we don’t have to push our bodies to extremities to get results, there are things that are so simple that can be incredibly effective on our health and wellbeing.

Here are my three favourites, scientifically proven, and guess what two are completely free!

DRINK WATER FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

Its a practise used by the Japanease and an old Ayuvedic treatment, and scientific tests have proven the health benefits of drinking water (16oz,two large glasses) when you wake up.water

Its a great way to fire up the system and get that morning motor started! It purifies the bodies internal system and colon making it easier to absorb nutrients. It helps purge toxins from the blood which will keep the skin glowing and also increase the production of new blood and muscle cells.

Drinking water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps with weight loss as it boosts the metabolism by 24%. It also balances the lymphatic system  which is extremely important to help us fight infections.

Make sure you always use fresh filtered water and its room temperature, wait for about 15 minuets before you eat breakfast.

 DEEP BREATHING

Oxygen is the most vital component humans need to live. We can go for weeks without food , days without water but only a few minutes without AIR.

Every cell in the human body requires oxygen, so deep breathing is extremely  beneficial  to help clear out toxins that have built up in the lungs. breath

Every morning just take a few minuets to really focus on some deep breathing. Get into the deepest depths of your lungs and have a really good clear out (in through the nose, out through the mouth). Deep breathing gets more nourished oxygen into your body and when the blood becomes oxygen rich it will give you that real energy boost you need first thing in the morning!

HUGGING

Everybody needs a hug. It changes your metabolism” ~ Leo Buscaglia

Hugging is good medicine. hug

Giving someone a hug transfers energy and gives that person an emotional lift. Scientists say hugging is a form of communication because it can say things you don’t have words for.

When we hug someone the hormone oxytocin (known as the love drug!) is realised into our bodies by our pituary gland, it floods the body with the feel good factor lowering both our heart rates and our cortisol levels (cortisol is the hormone responsible for stress, high blood pressure and heart disease).

In addition to releasing oxytocin, hugs also stimulate our brains to release dopamine the pleasure hormone.

Hugs WILL make you a happier, healthier person. They reduce stress, help you relax, and give your immune system a boost.

So this weeks recipe is simple…

*Two big  glasses of water first thing in the morning

*Some deep lung cleansing breaths

*Then go find someone and give them a big squeeze (apparently 20 seconds is the go!)

Have an amazing week

And remember to stay close to the things that make you feel aliveman hugging tiger
